The Stetson Hat Company, in 1865 was created by John B. Stetson, and then he came to a decision to change the look of the hats, As soon as he was done with this, he made a mass production of the hat, and called it the “Cowboy” hat.

John B. Stetson was trained by his father, who was a master hatter, but his father was infamous at his job, he was lazy and unreliable. But John B. Stetson still applied the skills and the knowledge that he learned from his father to make his business to be as successful as it can possibly be, and he soon became a popular and well known house hold name.

John B. Stetson was sixty four years of age when he passed away, but his company which manufactures and sells Fashion cowboy hats have ceased in manufacturing in the 1970’s, and are now revised as the Hatco. Inc. Even though there had been a few changes that occurred, Stetson’s hats are still being produced in Stetson’s sub company that is called the Stetson Hat Co, and they still manufacture Stetson’s Cowboy Hats that gave them the popularity they are enjoying now. This company is based in St. Louis, Missouri, Texas, and they have about a hundred diverse styles of hats that were created for every men and women, and of course the Stetson’s Cowboy Hats.

Stetson’s Cowboy hats have become a significant symbol of the Western’s pride, the Stetson’s Cowboy hats made their own way onto the heads of many, many American’s nearly all of the country men, such as Garth Brooks, Annie Oakley, Larry Hagman, John Wayne, Trisha Yearwood, and Ronald Regan who have worn the Stetson’s Cowboy hat. Larry Hagman wore his own Stetson’s cowboy hat on a very famous western show called “Dallas” in which he played J.R. Ewing. That hat that J.R. (Larry Hagman), wore in that show is now an added part of the Contemporary Americana exhibit that is in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

There is a primary component when making a Stetson’s cowboy hat and that is the “felt”, and also water which is the big important portion of the felting process. The felt is one of the oldest fashioned forms and variety of fur, for instance, fur of rabbits, wild hare and beavers, these furs can be dyed in a lot of different colors or will keep the colors of the fur itself. To make the Stetson cowboy hats, you will not only need felt, a powder is also being used to make the Stetson’s cowboy hats, it is used to soften up the felt and also the leather, to be able to form the sweatband’s interiors of the hat.
